May 2012

May 22, 6:00 p.m.
Book Club meeting - We will discuss "We need to Talk About Kevin" by Lionel Shriver. Read the book first and then watch the video release of the feature film. I think it would be very interesting to discuss a comparison of the two and the problems of adapting a book to the screen.

June 2012

June 28, 7:00 p.m.
The 6th History Lecture in our series "Our Santa Monica Bay" will be "Birds of La Ballona Creek" in partnership with the Friends of Ballona Wetlands. Local photographer and journalist Bill Beebe will present his prints of La Ballona. Beebe was the head photographer for the Santa Monica Outlook, and is famous for his Life Magazine photo of President John F. Kennedy on Santa Monica beach. We will also have a speaker from Friends of the Ballona Wetlands. The presentation will detail the history of the Wetlands and their status today.
