Author Carolyn See

As part of the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club’s WOMEN IN THE ARTS Program, writer and novelist Carolyn See will give an intimate afternoon talk on the subject of memoir and family history at the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club, Sunday March 28th, at 4:00 p.m., followed by a book signing and reception.

A Los Angeles native, Ms. See is the author of seven novels including The Handyman, Golden Days and most recently, There Will Never Be Another You. She is also the author of the memoir, Dreaming: Hard Luck and Good Times in America and the inspiring, Making A Literary Life: Advice for Writers and Other Dreamers. She serves as a book reviewer for The Washington Post and is on the board of PEN Center USA West. Ms. See is a recipient of a Ph.D. in American literature from UCLA. Her awards include the prestigious Robert Kirsh Body of Work Award (1993) and a Guggenheim Fellowship in fiction. Currently, she is working on a new memoir entitled The Very Rich Hours about getting old in an extended family.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the WOMEN IN THE ARTS Program Fund of the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club and the Santa Monica non-profit Daybreak, a project of OPCC.

WOMEN IN THE ARTS, a new program of the Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club, invites artists from the greater Los Angeles area to our historic Clubhouse and theatre to develop and share their work through events, programs and workshops that directly benefit the community through outreach, education, and charitable donation.

Daybreak, a project of OPCC, is one of the only programs on Los Angeles’ Westside that empowers women recovering from homelessness and mental illness to rebuild their lives and reconnect with their communities.
Located in the heart of downtown Santa Monica.

The Santa Monica Bay Woman’s Club is a non-profit 501c3 institution dedicated to enriching the lives of its members and the community through its legacy of women’s fellowship and charitable service. The Club, founded in 1905 and headquartered in its historic 1914 clubhouse, is comprised of a multigenerational membership (8 generations currently) and hosts a variety of social, educational, civic and cultural programs.

$8.00 advance tickets can be purchased by visiting our website or in person at the Club between 9:30-11:30 a.m., M-Fr. Tickets at the door are $10.00.
